How do you interpret this move? The demonization of anything done for the public?
I am so tired of hearing some candidates for public office talk about the public sector as sloppy seconds for people who can’t make it in the business world and/or as a charitable endeavor, as if their consideration of entering public office is primarily because they see it as fulfilling a need to do charitable works or a beneficent donation of their unparalleled skill and talent.
Check out this list of people who made serving in public office their life - and made our lives better for it, not because they sought to make people’s lives better as charity, but because they simply believed it was a worthwhile life-time commitment and investment.
It shows yet again the misplacement of thinking that a monetary value on something indicates its success, desirability or ability to provide happiness.
